Context
Horus Development Finance (HDF) is a consulting firm and technical assistance provider working in the microfinance sector in emerging and developing countries. For 15 years, Horus has been managing capacity building projects and microfinance institutions and has become one of the main consulting firms in microfinance. Horus (www.horus-df.com) created Advans (www.advansgroup.com) with several major international Development Finance Institutions (EIB, KfW, FMO, AFD, IFC, CDC). Advans is a network of microfinance institutions (MFIs) in developing and emerging countries (Cameroon, Ghana, DRC, Cambodia, Tanzania, Cote d’Ivoire) offering financial services to micro, small and medium sized enterprises (MSMEs). The Advans network presently comprises six financial institutions and the objective is to create ten additional microfinance institutions over the next five years in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Advans provides these MFIs with financial resources whilst Horus provides them with technical assistance services.
In the context of Advans group’s dynamic development, Horus is recruiting a Chief Financial Officer for the Advans microfinance bank to be created in Nigeria, based in Ibadan.
Role/Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer and with the support of Horus’ head office, the CFO will be in charge of the management of the administrative and financial operations of Lafayette Microfinance Bank Nigeria. In accordance with Horus’ mandate, and together with the Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Operating Officer, the CFO of Lafayette MFB will identify, recruit, organize and train a management team which will progressively take over the management of the microfinance bank.
Skills/Qualifications/Experience
Degree in management/accounting/finance
Proficient with accounting software, accounting, financial audit, budget preparation and monitoring, treasury management
At least 5 years’ experience in accounting and financial management, preferably in the microfinance or banking sectors, including 3 years in management positions
Fluency in English, reading and understanding French is appreciated
Rigorous, analytical, with sound managerial and organizational skills, and excellent interpersonal, coaching, mentoring and conflict management skills
