VACANCY FOR A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
A leading and highly reputable Nigerian organization is currently looking for a community development manager, He or she will primarily be responsible for communications, consultations, as well as planning, and managing programmes (groups of related projects) that are meant to ensure a mutually beneficial and sustainable relationship between the company and the local communities (population of 20 000). The key aims and objectives of the successful candidate are to plan, implement, and manage community development projects that meet the vision, mission and values as well as the community development goals of the company.

Programme/Project Management
·            Lead the creation of the long term development plan for all the local communities
·            Prepare and update regularly a detailed workplan for each of the projects
·            Ensure that community development projects are completed on time and on budget
·            Communicate all milestone achievements (or delays) to all stakeholders on a timely basis via multi-channel communications (social media, newspapers, bulletins)
·            Develop specific guidelines for project implementation and project office administration, in order to achieve all of the programme objectives effectively
·            Source and introduce innovative solutions towards achieving the project's objectives
·            Provide managerial and technical inputs and guidance required for the implementation of project activities, and ensure that all project staff work in concert with the project development paradigm and in pursuing of objectives.
·            Prepare reports and documents as required, including weekly, quarterly and annual progress reports, outcome/impact monitoring reports, technical assessments, monthly delivery and financial status summary, inventory status report, bulletins, and others
Staff Management
·            Supervise the project activities and performance of all the project staff, consultants, and contractors recruited/appointed under the project
·            Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates the performance of the community liaison officers and the projects assistant establishes performance requirements and development targets regularly monitors performance and provides coaching for performance improvement and development, takes disciplinary action, up to and including termination, to address performance deficiencies, in accordance with the Company's human resource rules and policies
·            Assess immediate and future training and learning needs for all level of project staff, and organize appropriate training programmes, including on the-job training, seminars and workshops
·            Build a strong team and maintain the culture of open communication within the project
·            Strengthen transparency and accountability in all aspects of staff performance and enforce code of conduct/ethics
·            Continuously update maintain accurate records of the population of each community to include and differentiate between indigenes, migratory persons and tenants
·            Initiate and maintain regular periodic contact with all community leaders (weekly)
General Community Relations
·            Lead and manage the interface and dialogue between and the company and communities
·            Ensure that all request from the communities for assistance, (not necessarily from the communities themselves), are duly notified to the company management and discharge/replied in a timely manner
·            Visit project sites in the villages for monitoring
·            Participate/organize joint monitoring missions with contractors and community members where appropriate
Reports
·               Weekly meeting reports for all communities including recommendations
·               Monthly community populate reports
·               Monthly progress reports including recommendations
·               Special project reports as may be required
Experience/Education Required:
·               Fluent in Yoruba
·               Bachelor's degree as a  minimum; Masters' Degree preferred
·               PMP or Prince 2 certification preferred
·               Extensive experience in this field, of which the most recent years must be in a community development and/or community capacity building management role working with local communities
·               Experience in working with companies in the mining or Oil and Gas sector and/or working with NGO's serving these industry sectors.
·               Very high level of proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel Outlook, PowerPoint and project) and internet search tools
·               Excellent project management and organizational skills. Experience with using MS project preferred
·               Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, which may include evenings, weekends and holidays
·               Demonstrated self – starter and problem solver with excellent interpersonal skills
·               Focused on attention to detail, taking initiative, and working to create include positive environment
·               Superior listening, written, and communication skills
