KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation recruiting in 2 positions

KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation IS a leading medical Development Aid organization working In Global Tuberculosis (TBl Control. With our team of professionals including consultants, nurses and epidemiologists, KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation has been active in TB control for over one hundred years both in the national and international context. KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation is active in over 40 countries in Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia. TBCARE I is a five year project (2010 - 2015) funded by USAID. TBCARE I is assisting the National TB and Leprosy Control Programme through vanous in-country partner organizations. KNCV has an office in Abuja and is recruiting staff for the following positions within the TBCARE project:


LAB TECHNICAL ADVISOR

The position is aimed to Increase KNCV's capacity to coordinate and strengthen the national TB laboratory networks, the capacity of National and Zonal TB Reference laboratories and implementation of new laboratory technology activities in the country. The laboratory consultant will work under the overall supervision of the Country Representative Officer and report to the Senior Technical Advisor for the project implementation and carry out the following major tasks:

Provide technical support to the NTP and NRL to take initiatives to improve tuberculosis control through appropriate TB laboratory technologies, ssupport TB CARE I partners in implementing laboratory component of the project, coordinate and supervise TB CARE I supported laboratories and the Implementation of Gene Xpert and other new laboratory technology, assrsts in planning, M & E progress towards annual work plans, expected outputs and assists in providing technical assistance to NTBLCP in improving the laboratory systems as well as improving the use of laboratory related data for decision making.

REQUIREMENTS
Applications are sought from persons with sound knowledge and experience in mycobacteriology, complemented by demonstrated knowledge of TB control and experience in public health strategies.
Should have at least Master level training in lab science and or infectious diseases, preferably with an emphasis on tuberculosis and knowledge on current WHO policy recommendations on the use of new TB diagnostics, TB laboratory bio-safety, SOPs for TB laboratory methods, and specifications for TB laboratory equipment. Experience in a mycobacteriology laboratory with knowledge of laboratory quality management systems and function of national TB program will serve as key asset.
Experience in working in the fields of TB, MDR TB and TB/HIV with field experience in Nigeria. Excellent written and verbal English language skills. Willingness to travel across the country.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION ASSISTANT

The M & E Assistant will work under the overall supervision of Country Representative Officer and report to the Senior M&E Advisor for the project implementation. The position is aimed to increase KNCV's capacity to monitor and evaluate the KNCV activities as well as provide support to their implementation in coordination with other partners to ensure a comprehensive response to TB. The overall responsibility is the development and management of a project-wide M&E system. Major tasks are:

Assist the Senior M&E Advisor and support monitoring and evaluation and knowledge management activities; assist in integration of M&E activities into KNCV country program, assist in collecting, timely and complete reporting from the in-country coalition partners in accordance with approved reporting formats and assist in monitoring and supervising the in-country ILEP Partners (and other sub grantees), adapt and implement tools and techniques to improve the quality and use of data for decision making and assist in providing technical assistance to NTBLCP in improving the M&E systems as well as improving the use of data for decision making.

THE REQUIREMENTS ARE:
Bachelor degree in Social Sciences,
At least 2 years of experience in M & E in public health project, experience in working in the fields of TB/HIV, Community TB, and MDR TB, with extensive field experience in Nigeria, excellent written and verbal English language skills, roficiency in statistical analysis and use of computer, Willingness to travel across the country.
