MISSION
The Systems and Network Administrator manages and contributes to the setup of the Advans Systems & Network infrastructures. He ensures the operation and administration of telecommunication systems and network. He manages and operates IT resources, hardware & software, ensures to put in place new systems and products.

MAIN ACTIVITIES
To manage and maintain all workstations: heterogeneous Linux environment (mainly Fedora) / Windows and interfaces with other servers (Linux / FreeBSD )
To put in place means and procedures for ensuring performance and system availability.
To administer, maintain and upgrade computer hardware and update software.
To manage the institution interconnection with external networks
To define network expansion and modification projects
To design and deploy software tools for an effective system administration (especially Shell scripts/Perl and Standard Open Source Tools), including the network performance and security dashboards
To apply security standards
To ensure technology scouting
To participate in Forums & Networking workshops, in collaboration with the Horus support unit based in Accra

SECONDARY ACTIVITIES
To train, advise and assist users.
To assist the IT Manager in negotiating with IT equipment suppliers
To lead and coordinate the activities of a technical team

FUNCTIONAL AND DECISIONAL ENVIRONMENT
Reports to: IT Manager
Supervises: a team of 1 to 2 persons (including Intern/ eventually interim)
External Relations: Suppliers, ISP/FAI
Internal Relations: Branches & Head-Office, HORUS Support Accra / HORUS MIS
Participation: Takes part in the IT Committee (and eventually in the Management Committee if required.)

PROFILE
Experience: desired number of years and nature of experience
5 years of experience as Systems and Network Administrator in the Banking or Insurance sector or any other related distant Branches and Head-Office Setup.

Education and area of expertise
A Level +2 years or  +5 years, IT Technician or HND Information management, Undergraduate Diploma in Technology in Networking & Telecommunication (DUT in French) with experience;
Cisco CCNA Certification and/or Linux Certification (Red Hat certified Engineer or Linux Professional Institute)

Skill set
In-depth knowledge of concepts and Networking & Systems architecture techniques
In-depth knowledge of technologies, protocols, communication & telecommunication Systems tools,
General knowledge in IT security
Master Linux/Unix type Operating System, HP Proliant Server;
Knowledge of Open source network management tools is an asset (Firewall, Monitoring) ;
VMWare Virtual Machines. NAS Data Solutions;
Fluent in English, French is appreciated but not a requisite

Good analysis skills, rigorous, methodical:
Handle a network of users
Decrypt basic users requests into technical terms, Manage emergencies and prioritize issues
