ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
Under the general supervision of the Resident Representative and/or Deputy Representative the National Programme Analyst, ADV/BCC will contribute to effective Advocacy and Behavioural Change Communication in support of UNFPA Country Programme. As an analyst, s/he assesses relevant political social and cultural trends and provides substantive input into programme formulation, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and joint programming initiatives.
S/he facilitates, establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with counterparts in Government, multilateral, bilateral and donor agencies as well as CSOs to address emerging issues.
S/he is expected to influence counterparts from diverse backgrounds to jointly contribute to achieving UNFPA mandate. The Analyst is a substantive contributor to the programme team in the office.
RESULTS-ORIENTED FUNCTIONAL STATEMENT (focusing on individual contribution, engagement, communities of interest and impact of action) :
Contribute substantively to the formulation and design of country programme activities in line with government priorities and in accordance to UNFPA ,policies and procedures, incorporating lessons learnt and best practices;
Create and document knowledge about current and emerging population and development trends, RH and gender issues, by analyzing programmes, projects, strategies, approaches and ongoing experiences for lessons learned, best practices and replicable strategies and approaches and actively share and apply this knowledge.
Analyze and interpret the political, cultural, social and economic environment relevant to population and development, reproductive health and gender and identify opportunities for UNFPA assistance and intervention.
Keeps abreast of policy development and strategies, analyzing policy papers, strategy documents and national plans as well as prepare briefs and papers for behavioral change communication, policy dialogue and evidence based advocacy to advance UNFPA’s policy agenda by participating in public information events.
Assist behavioral change communication, advocacy and resource mobilization effort of the CO by preparing relevant documentation – project summaries, conference papers, speeches and donor profiles.
Undertake any other assignments as may be required by the Representative

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION
Academic Requirement: Successful candidates must have a masters degree in Mass Communication, Journalism or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
We expect professional experience of a minimum of 6 years relevant experience in the public or private sector.
LANGUAGE AND OTHER REQUIREMENT: Language: Fluency in oral and written English.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Proficiency in current office software applications,
