Our client, a leading Oil and Gas contractor are looking to recruit an Engineering Manager on a contract basis which is to be based in the Lagos region of Nigeria.
Job Description
Purpose / Role
• Management of the multi disciplined engineering team.
• To achieve project completion to the project specifications.
• Accountable for the quality of engineering deliverables.
• Promote the development of the Nigerian workforce.
• Assist with general Project Management duties.
• Ensure clients engineering personnel are engaged.
Key aims and objectives
• Ensure that all project Health Safety and environmental policies are complied with.
• Promote the companies engineering image internally and externally.
• Ensure that technical compliance with all design requirements is met.
• Manager all engineering personnel such that personal development aspirations are achieved.
• Deliver project deliverables on time and within approved budget.
Prime responsibilities and duties
• Ensure that all engineering is carried out to the highest standard and meets the client’s requirements.
• Liaise with the clients engineering team.
• Ensure that personnel and engineering tools are available when required.
• Promote the training of the Nigerian workforce.
• Endeavour to make the engineering team work as a single entity.
• Promote the training and develop of all personnel to achieve personal aspirations.
• Manage the engineering subcontract(s)
• Report engineering status to individual project managers, to company Project Director and to client.
Allied occasional duties
• Attend local seminars and institutional meetings.
• Participate and contribute to Company Emergency Response Process and procedure.
• Assist with new work creation.
• Act as a mentor when needed.
Key internal interfaces
• Liaise with Project Director, Project Mangers and Engineering team leads
• Liaise with Specialist Engineering sub-contractors.
Key external interfaces
• Interface with client engineering team.
• Liaise with engineering sub-contractors.
• When in place liaise with construction subcontractors.
Qualifications/Training
Essential:
First Degree in relevant field
Post Graduate qualification such as MBA
Experience
Essential:
Degree from recognised institution
Able to work independently within the technical speciality
Proven ability to handle complex designs, conduct studies and
technical evaluations, coordinate and supervise small projects and
solve difficult technical Problems
Hold a Professional Engineering Registration
Personal qualities, aptitudes and skills
Ability to analyse and draw decisions from Project management data
Competencies – generic
Team player willing to share knowledge across the Business Services team
Able to develop close working relationships across multiple project functions to derive common process
