About the Role.
  • The post holder will support Christian Aid’s governance and gender programme with the objective of ensuring that everyone, regardless of gender, age or other dimension of diversity is treated equitably and given fair and free opportunity to participate and have influence in activities, decisions and structures which affect their life; both at community and at the state level.
  • The role will support Christian Aid partners to push for the domestication of the Child Rights Act in Kaduna state and other identified northern states.
  • S/He will be responsible for supporting and managing Christian Aid partnerships and programmes (with support from Senior Programme Coordinator- Gender and inequality) as well as the effective disbursement of funds to Christian Aid partners working on the programme with particular interest on work regarding governance, Gender, Inequality, Inclusion and working with Faith Leaders/actors.
  • The role holder will contribute to the development of Christian Aid Gender policy and faith leaders’ strategy.
  • S/He will contribute to the representation and brand of Christian Aid in country, engage with and promote communications and fundraising, including institutional donors.
  • S/He will provide technical supports to partners in areas such as Gender inequality in voice & accountability interventions, health interventions, humanitarian interventions, inclusion, Gender-based violence and protections in humanitarian situations.
  • S/He will identify opportunities and strategies of working with faith actors especially in religious diverse settings.
About You
  • You must have a 1st degree in Social Science or development related field with at least 3years’ experience of working with local and international partner organisations.
  • You should have good knowledge of working with faith and community based institutions and civil society organizations in Nigeria with a good understanding of gender-sensitive programming.
  • It will be desirable for you to have a substantial knowledge of supporting programmes and programme staff in international/national and local agencies as well as strong writing, analytical and documentation skills.
  • You are knowledgeable about development issues and current affairs especially in Northern Nigeria.
  • You need to have experience in programme management and financial controls and procedures as well as direct experience of developing partners’ capacity.
  • You should have progressive experience (for not less than 3 years) in implementing gender programmes and a good understanding of advocacy, campaigning, lobbying and network building.

Humanitarian/Emergency Programme Manager

About the role
The key function of the role is to manage emergency programmes and ensure high quality implementation while building and maintaining sound relationships with key stakeholders in Nigeria. The post-holder, will be based in Borno State and leads a team of National and International Surge experts across the Country. The post holder is responsible for work with partner organisations to ensure the emergency response is coordinated effectively in line with country strategy and humanitarian policies. The post holder is a member of the Senior Management Team and takes leadership for the programme and team for this programme area in Nigeria.

About you
  • The post holder is responsible for overall lead of humanitarian work in Nigeria and is expected to work with initiative and innovation, using analytical skills and their own judgement to recommend high level humanitarian programme and funding decisions for the organisation in consultation with a wide range of country team and humanitarian colleagues and partner organisations.
  • The post holder should demonstrate high level competencies in Programme Management and team leadership.
  • Ability to manage large complex teams and projects is a core competency for this role.
  • The post holder is expected to work independently with limited supervision, providing leadership and influencing strategies within the region and ensuring upholding of humanitarian standards and principles by Christian Aid staff and partners.
  • Key skills required are being able to effectively manage from a distance as well as be able to influence decisions of colleagues at a range of seniority levels.
