VACANCIES FOR SENIOR ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST/COACHES (UP TO 10)
LOCATION: NIGERIA (VARIOUS LOCATIONS)

The Strengthening Advocacy and Civic Engagement project seeks to increase the capacity and engagement of civic society organizations, clusters, networks and coalitions to influence key democratic reforms at all levels of governance in Nigeria. The project is funded by the U.S. Agency for international Development (USAID) with support from the partnership initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND). The project hopes to work with six Cluster Anchor organizations (inclusive of two on social inclusion). On transparency, accountability and good governance, at the national level. In the Niger Delta region, with six Civic society organizations and two business management organization by Chemonics International who seeks qualified for the candidates for the under-listed positions to support this work.



The project seeks to identify and select a pool of consultant-coaches with relevant background and expertise to assist, coach and mentor grant partners (Cluster Anchors and cluster members) to strengthen their capacity in key areas such as constituency relations, networking, people development monitoring and evaluation, knowledge management and learning, organizational development ad technical capacity in issue. The consultants will be required to observed, and to assist the organizations in various ways, as determined by their specific needs. Tasks may include:

·                 Facilitating the exploration of needs, motivations and skills to assist the CSOs to their proposal outcomes
·                 Facilitate organizational planning and goal setting processes, supporting the CSO in setting appropriate short-term medium-term and longer- term goals and methods of assessing progress in relation to these goals
·                 Provide technical assistance to organizations in identifying and applying tools and techniques such as one-to-one training, facilitating networking and identification of external resources and talent
·                 Encourage commitment to action and the development of lasting organizational growth and change drivers

Consultant coaches are expected to find ways to encourage CSOs to continually improve their own competencies and to develop new developmental alliances to achieve their goals. Consultant coaches will be provided training, orientation and support on the project approach-STAR. Consultant coaches will work in a pool and their services will be drawn in a needs basis by the project and its grants partners.

Suitable candidates will have at least a first degree, 10 years experience in capacity development in the CSO sector, with a focus on voice and governance work, and experience of working with networks and clusters of organizations to motivate change. They will be seasoned professionals, possibly with coaching qualifications and keep on supporting innovation. They will be available to provide freelance support to a host of actors at various locations.
