Applications and databases
Schema Design and Optimization
Manage upgrade/downgrade scripts
Design and implement processes or mechanisms to monitor and tune database access for optimal performance on a large scale production databases
Maintain Oracle, MSSQL and MYSQL DB
Maintain database Oracle PL/SQL scripts
Work to optimize queries, ensure proper/appropriate index generation.
Maintain Java-based admin tool to keep pace with enhancements until it can be replaced
Work with Data Center Engineering tools engineers on scalable log analytics solution
Collaborate with production DBA, development, QA and Architects using Agile Scrum
Proficient in creating database design documents
Operating Sytems and Networks
Network administration (including backup, security management, user account management, e-mail systems including e-mail web server, internet access, office systems and applications support)
Implement and administer network workstations, utilizing one or more TCP/IP or non-TCP/IP networking protocols and/or one or more UNIX-based or non-UNIX based operating systems
Support server, network and desktop hardware, software and applications
Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions
Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties
Investigate, recommend and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network availability
Document network problems and resolutions for future reference
Relationship/Outsourcing Management
Supervise outsourced centre services /tasks (computer, network access, customer support , internet connection, power, security , cleaning)
Develop and implement standard metrics for measuring outsourced relationships
Develop optimum profitable contractual agreements with outsourced organizations
Supervise technical outsourced relationships
Ensure optimal returns from outsourcing relationships
Desired Skills and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERTISE:
8 years minimum experience as a Database Engineer architecting, building scalable, high availability enterprise databases
Expertise in database schema design, optimization and strong fundamentals of relational database
Development expertise Oracle PL/SQL, Java/JBoss, hadoop/mapreduce
Experience with Oracle 10g/11g RAC, MSSQL
Expertise in designing, creating and using materialized views
Experience with Golden Gate replication
If the candidate doesn't have PHP, experience with either Tomcat or Jetty and with Java web technologies such as Spring, Spring MVC or Struts 2 would be acceptable
Oracle Java, the candidate will need experience with JDBC.
Knowledge of shell scripting, Perl a plus
Working knowledge of networking, systems and storage as it relates to databases
Experience in multi data center data replication, redundancy, failover, partition
Self-motivated and excellent written and verbal communication
Bachelor degree of Computer Science or equivalent
Nice To Have: Oracle OCI and C++
