Job Title: Utilities Improvement Engineer, West Africa Manufacturing Support Hub

Level: 5(M2)

Reports To: Utilities and Environment Manager, West Africa Manufacturing Support Hub

Context:

Diageo Africa is currently the highest growth region in Diageo. The West Africa Manufacturing Support Hub supports the operations in Nigeria (two operating sites), Cameroon (one site) and Ghana (two operating sites).

This role will play a key role in ensuring that utilities delivery to the manufacturing operations of the West Africa Hub are safe, well managed and reliable.

Market Complexity

Each of the three countries has highly volatile but expanding beverage market. Diageo is a major player in all three with the overwhelming majority of the stout market as well as substantial and growing volumes of lager beer, RTDs, malt drinks and premium soft drinks.

Leadership Responsibilities:

The jobholder will support the utilities teams on the sites. He/she will network throughout the organisation to ensure that he is armed with the right knowledge to allow informed strategic decision making,

Purpose of Role:

To support the utilities delivery teams in the 5 operating sites in ensuring safe, compliant, reliable, cost effective delivery of utilities.

To support the development of capability and best practice in utilities supply covering compressed air; steam; CO2 recovery; CO2 generation, refrigeration, water, liquid nitrogen.

Top 3-5 Accountabilities:

(1) Compliance and capability gaps in utilities operation and maintenance are being identified and closed off across the 5 operating sites.

(2) Plans are in place and being implemented for energy usage reduction, based on the current energy auditing programme and using PP methodologies.

(3) Utilities KPIs are being measured and tracked according to Perfect Plant methodologies.

(4) The utilities teams on the 5 sites are supported and advised on technical best practice in utilities management.

Qualifications and Experience:

· HND or Degree in relevant Engineering discipline.

· Minimum of 7 years Utilities experience in FMCG

In depth knowledge and experience in maintenance and operation of steam raising and distribution equipment and condensate recovery; refrigeration plant and distribution systems; CO2 recovery and generation plant; water extraction, treatment, distribution and usage minimisation; compressed air delivery; metering and monitoring; condition monitoring.

Barriers to Success:

Lack of influencing capability across different cultures and sites

Inability to challenge the status quo.

Inability to translate data into knowledge and move to informed action.

Flexible working options:

This role will be based in West Africa with regular travel between the five sites essential
