DE-RISKING RENEWABLE ENERGY NAMA FOR THE NIGERIAN POWER SECTOR
The Energy Commission of Nigeria and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Nigeria announces the following vacancy:
Post Title: National Project Coordinator-De-risking Renewable Energy NAMA for the Nigerian Power Sector
Location: Abuja, Nigeria
Duration: One Year
Closing Date: 9th May 2016
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF), working with relevant agencies of the Nigerian government is currently on a project with objective to support the Federal Government of Nigeria to develop and implement a Renewable Energy NAMA in the energy sector. The implementing organizations of the project are seeking application for the position of the National Project Coordinator.
Under the direct supervision of the UNDP Country Office Sustainable Development Unit, and in close cooperation with the Programme Office, the National Project Coordinator (NPC) is responsible for the day-to-day management and implementation of the UNDP-GEF project, including all project administrative matters. All work of the NPC will be carried out in line with the Country Progamme Action Plan and in full compliance with the UNDP Rules and Regulations. The management and coordination process will be pursued through undertaking appropriate actions in programme formulation, implementation and evaluation, strong emphasis will be made on ensuring cohesion with other UNDP programmes.
Job Description
i. Manage the project implementation in accordance with objectives, schedule and planned budget
ii. Manage all project activities, staff, consultants for timely implementation of requirements on monitoring and evaluation
iii. Coordinate awareness creation on all project activities
iv. Coordinate the project activities with relevant activities and initiatives of the Government
v. Ensure cooperation between the participating institutions of the project
vi. Ensure timely preparation of annual project reports, working plans and other relevant project documents
Qualifications and Experience
• At least 5 years of work experience in the energy sector including solid knowledge of the energy sector in Nigeria and climate change mitigation. Previous work in national or international project management is an advantage
• University education in Engineering Sciences, Business Management or other relevant field. A post-graduate degree (M.Sc. MPhil. PhD etc) is an advantage
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to take decisions and work with little or no supervision
• Strong computer skills
