JOB VACANCIES AT NLNG SHIP MANAGEMENT LIMITED

NLNG Ship Management Limited (NSML) a subsidiary of Nigeria LNG limited seeks to engage personnel for immediate employment in the following positions:

A.            SENIOR PLANNING & MANNING OFFICER: (Ref: NSML/2014/001)
                Location: NSML Head Office – Port Harcourt
The Job: The appointee will maximize the utilization of NSML seafarers to ensure statutory safe manning levels and relief planning, and overall co-ordination of logistics for implementing all Crew changes
The duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
·         Plan shipboard assignments for assigned Bonny Gas Transport (BGT) ships and ensure all stakeholders interest and met whilst ensuring that the vessels are adequately manned in line with Flag state requirements
·         Implement Crew Changes and ensure adherence to, uniform interpretation and application of approved policies and procedures for seafarers
·         Assist in the development and implementation of NSML policies and procedures and provision of professional advice and guidance to appropriate line managers and seafarers on shipboard personnel related issues.
·         Investigate, recommend and implement strategies for improved performance and increased Officers availability for sea service
·         Undertake ship and college visit to Nigerian Officers on board/colleges and respond to issues/ concerns raised by officers/Cadets while counseling them with view to creating a harmonious working environment
·         Support manager, Planning and Manning (NSM) in the provision of effective oversight manning activities for third party manning Agents contracted by BGT Fleet Managers for provision of Nigerian Ratings Manpower services for BGT ship.
·         Relieves NSM in his  absence and represents Company in appropriate meetings in furtherance of shipboard Personnel and crewing matters as directed
·         Prepare Management Report on utilization of Nigerian Officers and Cadets
The Person: The right candidate should:
·         Possess a University degree in Humanities or Social Sciences, obtained at a minimum of second Class Upper (2.1)
·         Have six to eight years post graduate experience, out of which three years should have been spent in a senior core HR function in a reputable organization. Experience in the maritime industry will be an added advantage.
·         Be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft office suite and crewing software
·         Be good team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
·         Not be more than 35 years as at 31st December 2014.
B             PLANNING & MANNING OFFICER: (Ref: NSML/2014/002)
                Location: NSML Head Office – Port Harcourt
The Job: The appointee will assist in maximizing the utilization of NSML seafarers to ensure statutory safe manning levels, relief planning and overall co-ordination of logistics for implementing all crew changes.

C.            INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS OFFICER: (Ref: NSML/2014/003)
Location: NSML Head Office – Port Harcourt
The Job: The appointee will monitor and implement NSML's Seafarer's COS, Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for Nigerian ratings, in line with International Labour  Organization (ILO), International Transport Federation (ITF) and NIMASA rules/requirements for Maritime Labour.
He/she will maintain harmonious employee relationships amongst the shipboard Officers and ratings by liaising with the Fleet managers, manning Agencies, appropriate Unions and employers Associations, Regulatory bodies to ensure continuous availability of shipboard personnel for sea service
The duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
·         Monitor the provision of Nigerian Rating Manpower Services for BGT ships and participates in the collective bargaining process of the ratings with relevant authorities
·         Initiate the review of shipboard Officers conditions of service periodically in line with CBA and current realities emergent from international survey of conditions of service
·         Assist in the development of guidelines and procedures and equitable application of same for the management of NSML's seafarers rights and obligations of the various international maritime labour Organization Laws, Merchant Navy Code of Conduct, Fleet Management Agreements, Memoranda of Understanding, and training agreement.
·         Coordinate company representation at social functions of NSML fleet personnel (Cadets and Officers) home and hospital welfare visits and follow up on welfare issues for seafarers and facilitate contact between seafarers away on assignment and their respective families
·         Assist in promoting harmonious relationships between the company and the industrial unions, NIMASA, ITF, ILO, and ensure personnel and company representation with appropriate unions/bodies.
The Person: the right candidate should:
·         Possess a University degree in Humanities or Social Science, obtained at a minimum of second Class upper (2.1)
·         Five to eight years cognate experience in HR practice, three years of which must have been spent as a senior officer of core personnel/HR function in a reputable organization.
Maritime sector and industrial relations experience will be an added advantage.
·         Must be good team player with excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
·         Not be more than 35 years as at 31st December 2014.
