State University, respectively.
THE INSTITUTION
Lagos State
University (LASU) was established in 1983 by the Enabling Law of Lagos
State University, for the advancement of learning AND establishment of
academic excellence. The University caters for a large student
population enrolled in Full-Time AND Part-Time programmes at the
Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. Today, Lagos State
University operates a multi-campus system with Four (4) fully owned
campuses, having its main campus at Ojo (along the Badagry Expressway),
AND other campuses at Epe. Ikeja AND Surulere. Lagos State University is
reputed for a tradition of high academic standard and excellence which
it has maintained over the years in its various academic disciplines in
Law, Medicine, Arts, Education, Engineering. Science, Social Sciences,
Management Sciences and Transport.
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
By
the Lagos State University Law (2004), the Appointments of ALL Principal
Officers in the University shall be for a term of Four (4) Years
renewable once for another term of Four (4) Years only and no more.
Fringe benefits include Pension Scheme as may from time to time be
approved by the Governing Council, Furnished Accommodation, Official
Vehicle and Driver, and other Benefits of applicable to similar
positions.
Registrar
Details
The Registrar is a
Principal Officer, who as the Chief Administrative Officer of the
University is responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day
administrative work of the University except for financial matters which
fall within the purview of the Bursar. The Registrar is also the
Secretary to Council, Senate, Congregation AND Convocation. The
Registrar is a member of the University Management Committee AND the
Head ofthe University Registry. For the vacant post, the University
seeks a candidate with vision, proven academic distinction, managerial
ability, integrity, transparency in private AND public life.
The
right candidate should also have ability to develop linkages with the
external communities to support the emerging needs of the University,
command respect AND engender cooperation AND loyalty of staff AND
students ofthe University.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Candidates for the post of Registrar, Lagos State University should possess:
A good (Honours) Degree plus Fifteen (15) Years relevant Administrative
experience in University or comparable Institution, with a minimum of
Five (5) Years at the Management level.
Possession of relevant
Higher Degree OR Postgraduate Professional qualification(s) in
appropriate field(s), will be an added advantage:
Candidates
should have served. at the level of Deputy Registrar in a University or
comparable institution, for NOT less than Five (5) Years.
Bursar
Details
The
Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the University, responsible to
the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day administration, AND control of
the Financial Affairs of the University, across its Campuses. The Bursar
is a Principal Officer who also serves as a Member of the University
Management Committee. The Bursar is the Head of the University Bursary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Candidates for the post of Bursar, Lagos State University should possess:
A good (Honours) Degree/HND in Accounting. Plus Fifteen (15) Years
relevant Post-qualification experience, Plus final Certificate of
ICAN/ACNACCA with twelve (12) Years relevant Post-qualification
experience.
The possession of relevant Higher Degree, OR Postgraduate Professional Qualification, will be an advantage.
Librarian
Details
The University Librarian is a Principal Officer of the University, responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the Administration of the University Library AND coordination of ALL Library services in the University, (in the Main Library AND in Libraries across ALL campusesofthe University). The University Librarian is a memberofthe University Management Committee. As an Academic Staff, the University Librarian will be required to provide both Academic AND Administrative Leadership to staff in the University Library.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Candidates for the position of University Librarian, Lagos State University should possess:
A good (Honours) Degree with minimum Higher Degree of Master in Library Science, with Fifteen (15) Years of cognate experience.
Must possess several scholarly Publications, Administrative experience AND demonstrate ability to provide academic leadership.
Computer knowledge is essential; AND
Possession of Doctorate Degree will be an added advantage.
Method of Application
TENURE
The appointment of University Registrar, University Bursar AND University librarian is for a TERM of FOUR (4) Years respectively, with eligibility for reappointment for a second term of FOUR (4) YEARS ONLY.
REMUNERATION
Remuneration of the University Registrar, Bursar AND University Librarian, Lagos State University includes a Basic Salary of CONUNASS 15, Housing facmty AND other Benefits AND Allowances, that apply to the University Registrar, University Bursar AND University Librarian in Nigerian Public Universities, as may be approved by the Governing Council, Lagos State University.
