Intervention Managers needed for the Support to the Meat and Leather Industry Project – Nigeria
Help promote economic development through the M4P approach
Lead a dynamic in country team
Work on a project funded by DFID

GRM International is currently seeking candidates with experience in project management and research and analysis to join its existing in country team. The ideal candidate will have knowledge in the Nigerian or Western African environment. Applicants with value chain development back grounds or with experience using the Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) approach are particularly welcome to apply.

GEMS 1 PROJECT APPROACH
The purpose of the project is to demonstrate improved performance of selected market systems in the meat and leather industries. The five year project will work with selected business partners to pilot interventions with potential to improve market systems in the selected sectors and thereby improve its competitiveness. It will help facilitate linkages between sector actors and promote investment. The project will focus primarily on Kano, Kaduna and Lagos to the extent that the meat and leather supply chain forward integrates to Lagos meat markets.

The Project team will work with selected business partners on establishing interventions (e.g. new or improved support services, new business models, new technologies, new supplier relationships, improved coordination between industry players) with the potential to improve market systems in the meat and leather sectors and thereby improve its competitiveness.

The Intervention Manager position will be a full time professional position providing the project with expertise to plan, design and manage delivery of M4P project interventions.  The skills required for the Intervention Manager position include:
Project management,
Research and analysis,
Communication and writing,
M4P experience
The abilities required for the Intervention Manager position include the ability to:
Work in a fast and flexible manner,
Work as part of a team. 
Apply strategic thought processes and identify pro-poor growth opportunities
Communicate and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels up to senior management and government officials
Be willing to undertake extensive travel

The Intervention Manager will be required to exhibit professional conduct, be transparent in dealings with all parties, and sensitive to issues of poverty, gender, social exclusion and environmental sustainability.

The Intervention Manager will provide support the Team Leader and Deputy Team Leader in all aspects of program delivery to ensure the success of the Support for Meat and Leather Industry Programme and will clearly communicate all work aspects to the Project Team.
Period of Contract

The Intervention Manager position is a long term position requiring the minimum input of 226 days per year.  The initial contract will involve a short term contract period up to a maximum of 3 months prior to a long term contract being agreed.  The first 3 month period will also serve as a probation period.
