HEAD, PROJECT CO-ORDINATION

LOCATION: SHORE POSITION - LAGOS

THE JOB
The position is a Fixed Term Contract position for two (2) years. The appointee
will be required:

• To provide advisory support to NLNG Ship Manning Limited (NSML), a subsidiary o(Nigeria LNG limited to position the organization as a fully fledged Manning Company.
• To lead in the definition of structures, systems and processes required to upgrade to best in class standards manning operations.
• To guide the new organization in the acquisition of experience and network of relationships with IMO, ITF, UK MCA and relevant bodies in the international maritime industry.


THE DUTIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
• Support NSML in the articulation of strategic objectives and set milestones for achieving the set vision.
• Initiate and develop procedures & processes for efficient and effective management of NSML
• Provide internationally recognized 'templates and Standards' of policies and guidelines for Seafarers development/ deployment meeting established best practices.
• Provide guidance for NSML shore based personnel Competency Assessment and Development of personnel to dose out identified gaps.
• Liaise with partners (Fleet Managers for own vessels and other ship charterers to Nigeria LNG Limited) to find placement for short-term attachment and cross posting opportunities for NSML personnel.
• Participate in negotiations with Unions and ITF in setting and agreeing Terms & Conditions of Employment and Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs)
• Act as Focal Point for Quality Assurance and compliance with international manning industry standards and practices including but not limited to provision of tested technologies to automate work processes.


THE PERSON
THE RIGHT CANDIDATE SHOULD:
• Possess a Class 1 (Deck) Certificate of Competence of a good university degree in Humanities or Social Sciences with Commercial Shipping Knowledge.
• Should he a Captain/Master or Chief Officer with 3 - 5 years' experience in the running of a Manning Agency; or degree holder with 10 or more years cognate experience in HR practices, 5 years of which must have been spent at the level of Head of core Manning function in a reputable International Manning Company.
• Evidence of a sound knowledge of processes and functions in the management of a manning agency.
• Evidence of networking contacts at IMO, ITF and other Maritime Regulatory bodies in UK (MCA) and other Jurisdictions.
• Basic knowledge on IT & Project Management (setting priorities)
