Our client is setting up a Development Finance Institution (DFI) with an objective to increase the availability and access to finance for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) through eligible financial intermediaries. PwC has a mandate to help identify competent and credible persons who will function in various capacities as outlined below:


Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Overall function of the position:
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for setting and driving the institution’s strategic business direction, and ensuring compliance with governance policies and management of business risks. The Chief Executive Officer reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Summarized Duties of the Position:
Provides strategic direction and oversight to the management team to drive the Institution’s business towards profitable and sustainable growth
Articulates and oversees the translation of high level corporate strategies and growth plans into business and operational strategies
Leads the institution-wide annual business planning and budgeting process sand also defines the compliance benchmark standards for the Institution

Education and Experience Required
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in any discipline and a Master’s Degree in any business related discipline
Minimum of 20 years post-graduation experience, 15 years must have been in the financial services industry, with 10 years in senior management  position our of which at least 2 years experience as a Deputy Managing Director, Executive Director or its equivalence

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Overall function of the position:
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) directs and coordinates the internal operational activities of the organizational in accordance with policies, goals and objectives established by the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors. The Chief Operating Officer reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Summarized Duties of the Position:
Directs internal operations to achieve budgeted results and other financial criteria, and to preserve the capital funds invested in  the institution
Participates in the development and preparation of short-term and long range plans and budgets (based upon broad organization goals and objectives) and recommends their adoption to the Chief Executive Officer
Directs the development and installation of procedures and controls, to promote communication and adequate information flow, and thereby solidify management control and direction of the enterprise

Education and Experience Required:
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in any discipline and a Master’s Degree in any business relate discipline
Minimum of 18 years post-graduation experience out of which at least 13 years must have been in the financial services industry and at least 8 years must have been spent at an Executive or Senior management level

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Overall Function of the position:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the development of a financial strategy and providing leadership on the financial management of the institution. The CFO is the financial spokesperson for the institution. The CFO reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and assist the CEO on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, capital market analysis, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs and securing of new funding.

Summarized Duties of the Position:
Provides leadership in formulating, implementing and monitoring of the Institution’s strategic business plans
Manages the treasury and accounting functions of the Institution and oversees the financial operations of subsidiary companies
Oversees the utilization of funds of the Institution towards instilling confidence and attracting more investors
Maintains in-depth relations with all members of the management team as well any third parties to which functions have been outsourced while ensuring the implementation of financial  best practices
Education and Experience Required:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline  and a Master’s Degree in any business related discipline
Minimum of 18 years post-graduation experience out of which at least 13 years must have been in the financial services industry, 8 of which must have been in a management position interfacing with the Executive team and Financial partners

Chief Risk Officer (CRO)

Overall Function of the Position:

The Chief Risk Officer (CRO) plays a critical role in proactively identifying and understanding the potential threats, opportunities, actions or events that will affect the institution’s ability to achieve its objectives, and in developing appropriate management policies

Summarized Duties of the Position:
Ensure that the Governance, Risk, Compliance and Control Frameworks of the Institution are maintained and updated as approved by the Board of directors and in operations
Compiles, assesses and report risk information to the CEO and the Board
Ensures that the Institution’s activities comply with relevant legislation and regulation
Develops, manages and refines qualitative and quantitative risk reporting  which meet the needs of the Board, in order to support effective decision making
Formulates and articulates a coherent risk appetite and infrastructures, including operating and financial models and hiring plans

Education and Experience Required:
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline and a Master’s Degree in any business related discipline
Minimum of 18 years post-graduation experience in Risk Management/Internal Audit out of which at least 13 years must have been in the financial services industry, 8 of which must have been in senior management position
