Our client is seeking to fill the position of:
Shift Quality Assurance Technician
Reports to: Shift Coordinator or Quality Engineer
Job Summary
The laboratory Technician is responsible for the optimization of the activities of Physical and Chemical analysis of raw materials, in process products, and cement and interacting with production and Process departments, to ensure the Quality of product as per Quality specification.
To provide accurate and consistent sampling and testing throughout the production process, in line with the testing standards and the product certification
Duties and Responsibilities
To ensure compliance with all relevant statutory legislation and the internal company Safety Health and Environment Standards.
To maintain high standards of housekeeping in the laboratory and sampling stations throughout the cement factory.
To use the laboratory chemicals in line with the manufacturer’s instructions and company procedures for the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health.
Ensure the implementation of Quality plan to achieve quality control objectives.
Maintaining testing equipment, and required testing conditions.
Collect and prepare samples and perform testing.
Highlighting deviations from Quality targets and informing Production Shift Coordinator of corrective actions in line with parameters set by Laboratory and Quality Managers.
Escalate quality issues to the correct level of management within the rules and guidelines set by the Quality Manager.
Maintaining Quality records
Operate the Robo Lab to the standard operating procedures.
Use backup system in case of lab failure such a Lab X
Under take regular training and refresher training to maintain and improve skills.
Supervise and mentor trainees as and when required in line with the instructions of the Quality Engineer or Quality Manager.
To participate in the support of auditing programs for compliance to company standards.
Provide cover for shift ( Holiday sickness and Absence)
Inventory checking of consumables and spares.
Education
B.SC in Chemistry or related field
Knowledge and specific Experience
Laboratory experience within the cement industry min 3 years
Understanding of the Cement Manufacturing process
Understanding of the cement quality standards.
Experience of working in an ISO 9001 environment
Experienced in the operation of XRF and XRD Analyzers and other lab equipment.
Experience of sampling & all physical testing for cement.
Interpersonal & Management Skills
IT Literate.
Ability to communicate with people at all levels. Fluent in English
Safety Awareness qualification would be desirable
