MEDICAL DELEGATES
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform all tasks, duties and tests related to laboratory services (hematology, immunehaematology, immunology, bacteriology, microscopy, routine chemistry, therapeutic drug monitoring, etc) according to established laboratory protocols and procedures
Process specimens utilizing protocols and technical knowledge
Calibrate, standardize and maintain instruments following established procedures
Perform quality control, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting protocols to ensure proper functioning of instruments, reagents, procedures, etc
Validate and report results of tests performed
Must be computer literate.
Deliver patients reports accordingly, on-time and in conformance with applicable confidentiality requirements
Assist with orientation and training of new employees
Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment
Follow established safety practices including bio-hazards, exposure control plan (for blood-borne pathogens), infection control to include universal precautions, employee right to know (about hazardous chemicals) and chemical hygiene standards
Attend all in-service education as required by the hospital, relevant national policies and Laboratory Practice license requirements
Research and develop new procedures as required
REQUIREMENTS:
A degree with major in Medical Technologies, Microbiology, Bio-chemistry or related sciences
Postgraduate and/or other specialist qualifications will be of added advantage
Professional registration by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria
Must have knowledge and skills in using relevant hardware and software applications
