Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following positions in the University of Ibadan, Ibadan.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE  
Museum Education Officer/Museum Guide, University Cultural Heritage Museum  
Applicants must possess a good honours degree in Arts or related discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of six (6) years cognate experience in museum guide and education. Possession of relevant postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.


REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be able to, among other things;
i. Provide relevant information on the museum cultural objects, etc, to visitors
ii. Assist researchers/students in sourcing relevant data from the museum and sister museums
iii. Ensure proper digital and manual documentation of all museum objects; and
iv. Ensure the safety/protection of the museum items.

MUSEUM CURATOR I, UNIVERSITY CULTURAL HERITAGE MUSEUM  
Applicants must possess a good honours degree in Arts or related discipline from a recognized University, with at least ten (10) years cognate experience in Museum Management and Administration. Possession of relevant postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.

REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be able to, among other things;
i. Develop standard procedures to preserve and protect artefacts in the museum
ii. Provide professional and technical support for museum collections and research
iii. Develop strategic plans including scope of work, schedule and cost estimates
iv. Plan and execute procedures for exhibits
v. Arrange lectures/ seminars/ outreach programmes to generate/ formulate novel ideasand policies in accordance with global best practices
vi. Supervise and guide museum staff, volunteers and interns on curational duties

REPRODUCTION AND AI MANAGER (DAIRY FARM), TEACHING AND RESEARCH FARM  
Applicants must possess a degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or HND in Animal Production and Health. Applicants must also possess at least seven (7) years field experience in Animal Production or Veterinary practice and must have relevant field experience in Animal Reproduction (or be registered for a Postgraduate programme in Animal Reproduction at the University of Ibadan).

CATERING OFFICER, DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN NUTRITION  
Applicants must possess a minimum of WASCE or its equivalent plus one of the following; City and Guilds certificate, M.I.M.A. or Diploma in Institutional Management, with three (3) years experience. Possession of OND or NCE in Human Nutrition or Home Economics will be an added advantage.

Applicants must possess a minimum of B.Sc. in Physics/ Electronics. In addition, applicants must either be an associate of the Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (AISLT) with at least ten (10) years experience or a Fellow of the Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (FSLT) with at least seven (7) years experience. Possession of a higher qualification will be an added advantage.

TECHNOLOGIST II , DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING  
Applicants must possess a Higher National Diploma registrable with COREN in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Engineering, and must be computer literate. Knowledge of Microprocessor and Microcontroller/Computer Programming, Computer Hardware Maintenance and Repairs will be an added advantage.

TECHNOLOGIST II (CHEMICAL STORE), DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY  
Applicants must possess a minimum of Higher National Diploma (Chemical/Biochemistry option) and Associateship of the Institute of Science Technology (AINST).

A good knowledge of computer operations will be an added advantage.

TECHNOLOGIST II , MULTIDISCIPLINARY CENTRAL RESEARCH LABORATORY  
Applicants must possess HND/Final Diploma/B.Sc. in Science Laboratory Technology (Chemistry/ Biochemistry Option) and must be registered with the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NIST). Relevant working experience involving sample preparation, chemical analysis and use of analytical equipment, proficiency in laboratory management and safety, and computer literacy will be an added advantage.

ACADEMIC POSITIONS

INTERNATIONAL ADVERTISEMENT FOR POSITIONS IN PLANT BREEDING, FARMING SYSTEMS AND POMOLOGY

The University of Ibadan, Nigeria’s first and leading university, located in southwest Nigeria and with a student population of 20,000, about 40% of which is made up of postgraduate students, seeks the services ofdynamic and experienced scientists to join her academic staff in the Department of Agronomy for exciting academic careers. Ibadan has a tropical climate and rich ethnic diversity that includes foreigners from different parts of the world. The city of Ibadan is home to four national agricultural research institutes, two national agricultural agencies and an international institute for tropical agriculture –nearly all (are) within 10-15 km from the university. The Department of Agronomy, University of Ibadan runs Bachelor’s degree programmes in Crop and Soil Sciences, as well asM.Sc. and PhD programmes in various fields of Agronomy including plantbreeding. The University of Ibadan is the host of the Pan African University Life and Earth Sciences Institute (PAULESI) of the African Union. In addition to the regular plant breeding graduate students of the University of Ibadan, PAULESI will admit students for M.Sc. and PhD Programmes in plant breeding in September 2012.Appointees for the positions below, especially the plant breeding staff, will be expected to teach regular students of the University of Ibadan and those of the Pan African University.

POSITIONS

LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER (ASSOCIATE/ASSISTANT PROFESSOR)    

AREA OF SPECIALIZATION
Plant Breeding (60% Teaching, 40% research)

A strong background in the use of biotechnological techniques for crop improvement is required. Candidates must have considerable knowledge and experience in genomics and molecular plant breeding. The preferred candidate will have exceptional ability to forge collaborative research. Appointee will also supervise the research of regular undergraduate and postgraduate students of the University of Ibadan as well as those of the Pan-African University.

REQUIREMENTS
The appointee will teach core plant breeding courses including quantitative genetics and statistics for agronomic experimentation, and develop a strongexternally funded breeding programme on one of the important tropical crops and another that is under-exploited.

LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER (ASSOCIATE/ASSISTANT PROFESSOR)  

AREA OF SPECIALIZATIONS
Farming Systems (50% Teaching, 50% Research)

The successful candidate must have a strong background in tropical farming systems with extensive farming systems research experience. The candidate must be able to teach relevant undergraduate and postgraduate courses in weed science,tropical crop husbandry, statistics for agronomic experimentation and supervise associated research projects/programmes as well as have demonstrable knowledge of the interplay of these areas with soil fertility, plant nutrition and crop ecology. The appointee willhave supervision/supervisory responsibilities for undergraduate and postgraduate students and isexpected to engage in collaborative research with other staff within the Department of Agronomy as well as other researchers in the university and other research institutions in the sub-region. In addition, the candidate must be able to formulate sound and new research ideas to enhance our current understanding of tropical farming systems. Participation in outreach programmes is a key responsibility of the holder of this position.

AREA OF SPECIALIZATION
Pomology (50% Teaching, 50% Research)

The appointee is expected to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Pomology with emphasis on tropical fruits, but should also possess ability to teach courses in at least two of the following areas of horticulture: olericulture, post-harvest physiology, floriculture and turf grass science. The holder of this position should also be able to teach courses in statistics for agronomic experimentation. Appointee’s responsibilities include considerable field work. The successful candidate will supervise the research of undergraduate and postgraduate students and engage in outreach horticulture programmes.

REQUIREMENTS
The appointee is expected to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Pomology with emphasis on tropical fruits, but should also possess ability to teach courses in at least two of the following areas of horticulture:
