United Nations programme recruiting in Nigeria

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Supported by the African Regional Office (AFO) based in Johannesburg, South Africa, UNOPS Nigeria is currently implementing various projects for its development partners in the country. AFO helps ensure that projects are executed to the highest standards, providing shared knowledge base and ensuring that best practices and lessons are disseminated between projects across the entire region.

UNOPS Nigeria currently seeks well qualified and suitable candidates for the following positions to join its complement of staff to make significant, tangible contribution to its work in the country:
1.       Finance Assistant Vacancy Reference Code UNOPS/VA/2012-004 Level: Local  ICA3
Key Responsibilities:
The Finance Assistant is responsible for providing direct support for projects management and general support to the Finance Officers, and the operation office.
Summary of Key Functions:
·         Assistance in information-gathering for budget preparation.
·         Maintain overview of bank account levels, cash in bank and replenishments;
·         Assistance in the maintenance of the budget database by verifying and inputting approved budgets;
·         Review of payment requests for completeness prior to processing to ensure that documentation is complete and check invoices against breakdown of cost in respective contracts, analyse whether invoices comply with contract provision UNOPS policies or not;
·         Ensure the use of proper accounting codes & certification of services rendered/goods delivered;
·         Analysis of financial reports, investigation and adjustment  as required;
·         Check all receipt supporting claims for reimbursable expenses;
·         Contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice;
·         Any other duties as may be required.
Qualifications/Experience
·         University degree or HND IN Finance and Accounting or related subject; certification in Finance and Accounting may be an added advantage.
·          At least 4years of relevant experience preferably in Finance and Accounting;
·         Computer literate and knowledge of accounting soft ware’s;
2.       Administrative Assistant Vacancy Reference Code UNOPS/VA/2012-005
Key Responsibilities
The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing direct support for project management and general support to Admin/HR Officer, and the operation officer.
Key functions also include:
·         Provide administrative support to head of Office;
·         Organise and maintain an up to date filling system for all formal correspondence and other project documents as may be required;
·         Provide logistical support in the Organization of seminars, workshops and training, visiting missions and field trip as per administrative procedures;
·         Schedule and provide records for meeting;
·         Drafting correspondence related to current affairs;
·         Ensure the production, photocopying and the multiplication of working documents;
·         Participate in office procurement processes;
·         Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all project assets for approval by supervisor;
·         Any other duties may be required.
Qualification/Experience
·         University degree or HND in business administration or related field;
·         At least 4years of relevant experience in general administration function;
·         Experience with UN systems or int’l NGO may be an added advantage.
3.       Logistics/Transport Assistant Vacancy Reference Code UNOPS/VA/2012-006 Level: Local  II CA 3
Key Responsibilities
·       Ensure proper maintenance and safe and secure storage of all office equipment and properties.
·       Arrangement of vehicles transportations, regular vehicles maintenance and insurance;
·       Provide logistics supports to all conferences, workshops & retreats;
·       Performance of buyers role in ATLAS & preparation of Pos for travel activities;
·       Support to knowledge building and knowledge sharing.
Qualification/ Experience
·         Minimum of secondary school or equivalent required;
·         At least 4years of administrative/operational experience in logistics and related field;
·         Experience working with UN systems or Int’l NGO may be an added advantage;
·         Strong field experience and valid driving license.
4.       Driver Vacancy Reference Code UNOPS/VA/2012-007 Level: Local ICA 2
Key Responsibilities
·         Driving of office or project vehicles for the transport of authorised personnel;
·         Receive and take visitors to and from airport, assisting with immigration formalities as required;
·         Collect and deliver mail, documents, and other items;
·         Ensure that all vehicles comply with the minimum operating security standards (MOSS);
·         Take care of the day to day maintenance of assigned vehicle, check oil, water, battery and breaks;
·         Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes and greasing;
·         Follow all rules and regulations in relation to the management of UNOPS vehicles;
·         Perform other related duties as required.
Qualification/Experience
·       A secondary schools education is required;
·       At least 3 years driving experience preferable with an International NGO or UN agency;
·       Driver’s license at least 3 years old;
·       Elementary motor mechanic skills.
