Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET), A Newly established Government owned Public Liability Company, is seeking qualified and exceptional candidate to fill the following executive management position:

Job Title: General Counsel
Job Location: Abuja

Responsibilities
The General Counsel serves as in-house counsel on contracts including development of contract language, negotiations with counterparties and resolution of disputes; manages litigation and arbitration proceedings; leads regulatory and legislatory initiatives; and advises the Executive Officer and Board on all Legal and regulatory issues that arise. The General Counsel reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer


Qualifications/Experience Required
Law Degree, 10 years post Call and an admission to the Nigerian Bar
Minimum ten (10) years of progressive experience
Ability to organise and apply legal concepts and principles
Demonstrated experience in negotiations of long tenured contract
Ability to interpret, analyse and prepare contract documents

Desired
Five (5) years of related progressive legal/regulatory experience preferably in corporate law
Experience in regulatory and legislative matters in the power and gas industries
Knowledge of Nigeria or similar power and natural gas markets and the roles and responsibilities of the various industry players Experience working with power infrastructural or related contracts.
